Exercise 1: Kitchen Fun/Guilty Pleasure Dinner
What a day. 4 hours at work. Then I planned to do some house cleaning and laundry. Want to organize my kitchen so that I can try out the new combination convection oven/air fryer. It was going to be a guilty pleasure dinner night – oven baked or air fried french fries with a side of veggies or an omelet. Maybe a cup of noodles too.
But I’ll probably eat leftovers instead and save the heavy lifting for another day.
Exercise 2: The Curve ball – a restless nap
Life throws unexpected twists. Sleep has been pretty good lately, but I still crashed for 4 hours (kid you not) right after work. And not, easy sleep either. Restless sleep where I started on one side of the bed and woke up on the other side. But as mentioned before, I am a restless sleeper who often moves around in her sleep.
Does it count as movement? I don’t know. What do you think?
Then, since I was already in bed, decided to do some stretching and grounding meditation.
Like I said: curve balls
Stretching In Bed (not quite bed yoga, but I heard that is popular and easy to learn from YouTube videos)
After waking up, I decided to try doing some back and hip stretches in bed. Not sure if it’s the same for you, but sometimes doing these standing up makes me dizzy. But lying on the carpet hurts too much. The bed is a happy medium with a bonus of warm covers.
Some day, when YouTube doesn’t intimidate me, I will probably look up bed yoga and try it out. If any of you have tried it, maybe leave a recommendation in the comments?
Cooking, Cleaning, and ???
Well, it’s early afternoon here, so I still have a lot of time before evening. The weather outside is cold, and like many of you, I am practicing social distancing.
There’s dinner to make, cleaning (general) to do, and some laundry too. All of that requires movement and energy.
But my favorite thing for today? I’m breaking out the herbs and honey to make tea. Not something I’ve done in a while because of other stuff going on, but something that always keeps me in the present moment, smells great, offers interesting flavors, and warms me up on a cold day.
If you have bagged tea or hot chocolate, that works too. My favorite is mixing a bag of chamomile and a bag of peppermint with a small (1/4 inch or less) piece of fresh ginger and honey to make tea. Or substitute the ginger for lemon, lime, peach, blueberries, basil (you get the idea)….
Herbal tea can be relaxing or stimulating and offer general health support too. Caffeinated tea can do the same too, but it won’t relax you.
To be quite honest, I have no idea what will happen next this evening
